Barbara O’Connor is the author of 17 novels and biographies for children. Her books have received many distinctions, including ALA Notable, NCTE Notables and Parents Choice Gold Awards, and have been nominated for young readers’ choice awards in 38 states. Her novel, How to Steal a Dog, was chosen the winner of children’s choice awards in Indiana, Kansas, South Carolina and South Dakota.
In addition to writing, Barbara has spent many years visiting schools across the country, doing author presentations and conducting writing workshops.
Barbara grew up in Greenville, South Carolina and graduated from University of South Carolina, but eventually moved to New England. After 25 snowy winters, Barbara and her husband came back to the South, settling in Asheville.
Her recent middle grade novel, WISH, is set in the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina. Wonderland, cover below, arrives in August 2018. |
